BEFOREAFTER
This model is a Curl Type VI (Coiled) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™.
She has medium coils that spiral with volume.
TIPS
- To maintain a long-lasting style, avoid getting any water on the hair until your next shampoo.
Use a shower cap and sleep on a satin pillow case, or use a satin or silk bonnet/scarf.
- The loose waves can be refreshed daily by applying a small amount of MIZANI® Coconut Soufflé™
and fingerstyling. For a fuller style, lift sections at the bases and stretch them with your fingers.
- To reshape waves, take large sections of hair without disturbing the curl or combing your hair.
Make 2-strand twists all over your head. Sleep with a bonnet and untwist in the morning. Mist with MIZANI® Gloss Veil™, then fingerstyle.
BEFOREAFTER
This model is a Curl Type VI (Coiled) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™. Her hair coils close to the scalp,
creating a loose, curly Afro. She wants more flexibility and manageability, and less frizz.
TIPS
- When finished freehand, the look can get wet or be misted with water. If desired, use
Cleansing Cream in the shower as a co-wash in-between weekly shampoos.
- To refresh curls daily, mist with water and apply a dime-to quarter-sized amount of
TRUE TEXTURES™ Perfect Curl. Then re-style, using Freehand Finishing. Take horizontal
sections and press the bases to minimize volume and inhibit frizz. Then run your fingers
through the sections, and press down the entire top, if desired. Air dry or diffuse.
(For a fuller look after drying, lift the bases and fingerstyle.)
- For extra shine, mist on MIZANI® Gloss Veil™ daily.
BEFOREAFTER
This model has a Curl Type VII (Very Coiled) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™.
Her hair has a natural tight coil with springy curls. It tends to tangle easily and needs extra moisturizing.
TIPS
- To maintain a long-lasting style, avoid getting any water on your hair until your next shampoo.
Use a shower cap and sleep on a satin pillow case, or use a satin or silk bonnet/scarf.
- Misting the hair every other day with MIZANI® Gloss Veil™ maintains consistent shine and vibrancy.
- If you want to moisturize your scalp between rows of curls, use MIZANI® Comfiderm Scalp Oil.
- To re-shape the twists, lift large sections at the root area, then stretch the coils out with your
fingers. Shake the coils with the palms of your hands, using a brisk up and down motion. When drying,
use a circular motion to separate the hair without disturbing the curl.
- Curls can be made fuller by inserting a pick or rake comb into the base of the sections and pulling
it half-way through. Do not pull through the ends, or you’ll release new curl and create frizz.
- To maintain longer Sassy Twists, around the 5th day, apply a small amount of TRUE TEXTURES™ Moisture Stretch™
and twist sections all over the head, creating larger or smaller twists. Wear a satin bonnet overnight.
In the morning, untwist and fingerstyle.
BEFOREAFTER
This model is a Curl Type V (Very Curly) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™.
Her hair has a soft, defined curl that forms into coils.
TIPS
- To maintain a long-lasting style, avoid getting any water on the hair until the next shampoo.
Use a shower cap and sleep on a satin pillow case, or use a satin or silk bonnet/scarf.
- You can create more volume by lifting sections at the bases with a pick or rake comb and backcombing slightly.
- To refresh Finger Twirls daily, rub a small amount of TRUE TEXTURES™ Perfect Curl between your hands,
and pull and stretch-out twirls with your fingers. Re-twirl in a clockwise direction.
Then fluff twirls with your palms, working side-to-side, as well as up and down. Never use a
comb or brush to style or pull out the finger-twirled coils.
BEFOREAFTER
This model is a Curl Type III (Wavy) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™.
She has a uniform wave pattern with distinct S-shapes and would like more defined curls.
TIPS
- To maintain a long-lasting style, avoid getting any water on the hair until your next shampoo.
Use a shower cap and sleep on a satin pillow case, or use a satin or silk bonnet/scarf.
- Once the chignon has been released, refresh your curls by using a small amount of TRUE TEXTURES™ Perfect Curl and
Freehand Finishing. Now, you can use TRUE TEXTURES™ Cleansing Cream as a co-wash in-between shampoos.
- For more volume, diffuse dry your hair. Or, mist with water very lightly and then finish freehand or diffuse.
BEFOREAFTER
This model is a Curl Type V (Very Curly) on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™. Her hair is very curly with S-shapes
naturally forming into coils, and she has concerns with frizz and tangling.
TIPS
- This style can be exposed to water. If it is, just re-apply a dollop of TRUE TEXTURES™ Perfect Curl,
scrunch and diffuse or air dry. If desired, use TRUE TEXTURES™ Cleansing Cream as a co-wash in-between weekly shampoos.
- For a quick dry, diffuse for 5-10 minutes without disturbing the curl pattern.
For more volume, turn your head upside down and diffuse to create luscious curls.
- To reduce volume at the end of the day, mist hair with a water bottle and reapply a dollop of TRUE TEXTURES™ Perfect Curl.
Then fingercomb and scrunch curls, as desired.
BEFOREAFTER
This model has multiple textures throughout her hair. She is a combined Curl Type VII (Very Coiled) and VIII (Zig Zag Coiled)
on the MIZANI® Natural Curl Key™ and has interlocking curl patterns.

- To re-shape your style, lift large sections at the root area, then stretch out the coils with

- To re-define coils between salon visits, apply a small amount of TRUE TEXTURES™ Moisture Stretch™.
Then twirl individual coils around your fingers, as needed. Mist with MIZANI® Gloss Veil™ for extra shine.
